Detailed Privacy Policy

Introduction

Urania is an AI productivity application by Athvani. This policy explains how information is processed when you use Urania, including the difference between On-Device AI, Urania Online and Use Your Own APIs. This policy is available in-app offline. Urania does not sell your personal data.

Processing choices

Where supported, you choose the processing route. On-Device AI performs supported model processing on your device. Urania Online transmits information required for the selected request through Athvani-operated online infrastructure and to the AI provider used for that request. Use Your Own APIs transmits the information required for the selected operation to the provider configured with your credentials. These routes have different privacy, connectivity and capability characteristics.

Information processed locally

Depending on the features you use, Urania may locally process or store text, recordings/audio, images, documents, transcripts, reminders, conversation/history context, profile settings, provider configuration and diagnostic information. Supported History items can be retained locally so you can reopen or continue work.

Urania Online account information

Urania Online is optional and requires authentication. The service processes the verified account identity needed to authenticate and isolate your account. The backend uses a provider identity and a one-way keyed representation of a verified email where available to control starter-credit eligibility without storing that email in the credit database. To give starter credits once per phone, the app also sends a one-way hash of Android's app-specific device identifier; the service keeps only a keyed hash of it and uses it for nothing else. To protect credits from automated abuse, Urania Online requests also carry a Firebase App Check token produced with Google Play Integrity, which lets the service confirm the request comes from a genuine copy of the app. The authentication provider separately processes authentication data under its own terms and privacy practices.

Urania Online request content

When you deliberately choose Urania Online, the content required for the request is uploaded to the Urania Online gateway. Temporary request and result objects are encrypted with a unique AES-256-GCM key. The database stores the object reference and encryption key only while required for the job; purging removes those references/keys and deletes the object on a best-effort basis, with the configured storage lifecycle as a backstop. The content required for the request is sent to the configured AI provider used by Urania Online.

Urania Online retention

Quotes have a short validity period. Under the current server configuration, a completed result may wait for delivery for up to 72 hours; after delivery, the database references/encryption keys needed to read temporary Online result content are removed on acknowledgement or after up to 72 hours, and object deletion is attempted. The temporary content store also has a four-day lifecycle backstop. These periods are operational limits and may be shortened. Account, credit-ledger, purchase-verification, fraud/security and privacy-safe commercial records are separate from temporary request content and may be retained longer where needed to provide the account, protect transaction integrity, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, or comply with law.

Urania Credits and purchases

The Urania Online service maintains account balances, reservations, settlement history, purchase verification records and related transaction information. Google Play processes purchases in Play-distributed builds. Urania receives purchase identifiers/tokens and product information needed to verify and grant credits, and — for a Urania Pro subscription — its plan, renewal state and expiry so the subscription's credits can be granted; Urania does not receive your full payment-card credentials through this purchase flow.

Audio, recordings and voice input

Record / Notes and supported translation flows can process microphone recordings or audio you select. You are responsible for having any permission required to record or process other people. When you deliberately use Android speech recognition, processing behaviour can depend on the speech-recognition service configured on your device. Ask Urania speech is placed in the composer for review before it is sent to an AI route when you press Send.

Optional “Urania Please” voice activation

Off unless you turn it on in Settings › Voice & Activation, where it is explained before it starts. While it is on, Urania keeps the microphone open to detect the phrase “Urania Please” on your device; that audio is analysed in memory and is not recorded, stored or sent by Urania, and Android shows a notification for as long as it runs. After the phrase, your spoken request is captured by Android's speech-recognition service, whose processing (possibly online, by Google or your phone's maker) depends on the service configured on your device. Listening pauses while Urania records, in Battery Saver, on low battery and when the phone is hot, and you can turn it off at any time. Urania keeps only technical, content-free diagnostic events (for example that listening started or the phrase was detected), never audio or words. If you also turn on voice-started recording while Urania is closed (a separate choice, off by default), saying “Urania Please, start recording” records with the microphone even while the phone is locked, until you stop it, with a sound, a vibration and a notification; only start, pause, resume and stop recording work then. That recording stays on your phone and is opened in Record / Notes when you next open Urania; nothing is transcribed or sent before that. You are responsible for having the consent of the people you record where the law requires it.

Saving and sharing your recordings and images

Record / Notes, Image / Document and History offer Save and Share for recordings and images. They act only when you tap them: Save opens Android's own "Save to" screen for the location you pick, and Share opens Android's share sheet for the app you pick, which receives a temporary read-only copy. Urania does not upload or share media because these controls exist, and adds no tracking of their use. Copies you save or share are outside Urania: deleting the item in Urania does not remove them.

Images and documents

Images and supported documents you select can be processed by the route you choose. Multi-image analysis can process up to four images together; document analysis remains single-document. Only process content you are authorised to use.

On-Device AI

Supported tasks can use downloaded AI models on your device. Downloading models requires network access to the model source, but that does not by itself mean your task content is sent to a cloud AI model. Intensive local AI can use significant processor, memory and battery resources.

Use Your Own APIs

If you configure supported provider credentials, Urania uses them for the selected provider operation. Provider terms, privacy practices, retention, availability and charges apply. Urania Credits are not consumed for Own API requests. Provider credentials are stored using Urania's protected credential storage and are not intended to appear in user-visible logs.

AI output

AI, transcription, translation, summarisation and analysis can contain mistakes, omissions or unsupported interpretations. Review important output and use qualified human review for high-consequence decisions.

Reminders and calendar

Reminder features process the information you provide and use Android calendar/reminder capabilities only where required by the selected feature and permission granted.

AI Model Backup & Restore

Model Backup & Restore concerns supported downloaded AI model files. It is not a full application backup and does not include recordings, documents, images, History, conversations, transcripts, API keys or general preferences.

Feedback

Feedback is a deliberate online submission. Urania sends the feedback type, optional subject, feedback message, optional contact email and minimal app context required for review. Ordinary recordings, transcripts, documents, images, chat History, API keys, logs and device files are not automatically attached to ordinary feedback.

Reporting an AI answer

Urania already provides “Report this answer”. A report can include the reason, optional note, feature/model context and app version. Answer text is sent only if you leave “Include the answer” selected. Because an answer can contain information derived from your content, review this choice before sending. Reports do not automatically attach recordings, documents, images, API keys or general History. If immediate delivery is unavailable, a pending report may be held locally for later delivery.

Logs and diagnostics

Urania maintains operational, activity, error and diagnostic information needed for functionality and troubleshooting. Logging is designed to avoid API keys, authentication tokens and ordinary request content. Online commercial metrics record attributes such as task type, size band, token counts, model, credit estimates/charges, latency and outcome rather than the user's prompt or generated text. If you choose to send a diagnostic report, the description you write (with obvious card numbers, codes and passwords removed on your phone) becomes the body of the e-mail and the diagnostic log is attached; it leaves your phone only through the e-mail app you choose, and the description is never written to the log.

Security

Urania uses platform and application controls including HTTPS-only Online requests, authenticated account-scoped gateway calls, server-authoritative credit settlement, protected local credential storage, disabled Android automatic backup, and per-object authenticated encryption for temporary Urania Online content. No security measure can guarantee absolute security. Protect your device and connected accounts.

Account and data deletion

Local Urania data can be removed using supported Urania controls or Android application-data controls. Signed-in Urania Online users can request deletion from the Online account area. The service disables further use and removes the database references/encryption keys needed to read remaining temporary request/result content. It then attempts to delete the encrypted temporary objects, with storage lifecycle deletion as a backstop. A minimal authentication identifier and limited transaction, purchase, ledger, fraud-prevention or security records may be retained where reasonably necessary or legally required; retained records should not be used to continue ordinary Online processing. Authentication-provider account deletion is also subject to the authentication provider and the implemented sign-in method.

Your choices and rights

Depending on applicable law, you may have rights concerning access, correction, deletion, withdrawal of consent, objection or grievance handling. Optional Urania Online processing can be avoided by using supported On-Device functionality. Contact support@athvani.com for a privacy or rights request that cannot be completed through the app.

Children's privacy

Urania is not specifically designed or directed toward children. Eligibility controls and applicable platform/legal requirements govern access to Urania Online. Athvani does not intentionally design Urania Online to solicit children's personal data contrary to applicable law.

Third-party services

Services deliberately used by a feature can include Google Play, authentication services, AI providers, model sources and other network services. Their applicable terms and privacy practices apply to their processing. Urania does not claim control over independent providers' retention or processing.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

Material privacy changes may require renewed acceptance. Application updates alone do not automatically require renewed acceptance. The current accepted policy version is stored on the device.
